Now that the price of petrol has become dangerously high and pleas are being made to conserve it, would it not be time for the bowls authorities to act and decentralise all their competions by creating playing areas in the country and districts.
Is it really necessary for us to travel vast distances across this large country of ours to represent our country, or our district, or even our club when simple actions to have competitions played closer to home in the early stages will save an immense amount of money?
Take note of Kevin Campbells remarks on the nationals in this forum as a guide line.
Let's separate the country into four areas and do the same in our districts, saving time and money and assuring that the best sides go forward to district and national championships.
I agree that it's time to decentralise all competitions and think that separation of the country and districts into four areas is a wonderful idea. To have to travel for 30 minutes to a venue within your own district to play a competition, or even league, is a complete waste of time and petrol, particularly when your opponent does not turn up or the game is cancelled due to the weather. I am sure that decentralisation would bring about an increase in the number of entrants.
