Travelling costs are becoming more and more prohibitive and there is a definite decline in the number of entries to District Tournaments, Nationals and League.
The petrol price goes up and down like a yo yo, but by my calculations, the last District Singles game I played cost me over R150 for one game.
I think the time has come for a serious look at creating sub divisions in districts to allow players to compete within a reasonable radius of their club and the winners of each sub division then playing off for a final at a venue accessible to all.
Perhaps the creation of sub divisions might also assist in better administration.
